4th March 2010 - ATL attend Feast East

For the second year running ATL were present at Feast East, the Eastern Region's food and drink festival held at at Chilford Hall in Linton. It was nice to see so many of our customers exhibiting and visiting. If you attended then we hope you enjoyed your day as much as we did.

18th March 2010 - Changes to Compost Testing

We are improving the service we can offer for the Microbiology testing of Compost for E.coli & Salmonella.
The industry is in the process of changing the regulations for E.coli and Salmonella testing for both Non- Animal By-Product and Animal By-Product composts. Proposed changes to the PAS 100 and the Animal By-Product Regulations are at this stage a little vague.
 
PAS 100:2009 – Changes include modified minimum sampling and testing frequencies, and a more appropriate method to test for E. coli.
 
ATL are in the process of adding the new method to our scope of accreditation for compost testing.

23rd March 2010 - Scope of Accreditation Update

The Microbiology Division (UKAS 2262) have updated their UKAS Scope of Accreditation. The 'Accreditations' section of our website now has the most up to date scope available for download. The scope can also be accessed by visiting the UKAS website and clicking on the number next to Alliance Technical Laboratories.

15th February 2011  - Changes to the Animal By-Product Regulations

Defra have announced that the new Animal By-Product (Enforcement) (England) Regulations 2011, will come into effect from 4th March 2011. These Regulations will replace the current Animal By-Products Regulations 2005.

The updated regulation will include powers to enforce the requirements of the new EU Animal By-Product Regulation (ABPR) 1069/2009, which lays down health rules for animal by-products not intended for human consumption.

The main difference observes an increase in the number of Salmonella samples required for all animal feed testing. The ABPR 2011 will increase the number of Salmonella tests to five per sample.

5th May 2011 - Details of new Salmonella Method

 

Alliance Technical is pleased to announce a new method for the Detection of Salmonella using an immunocapture technique. AM/M:12-3 is suitable to use for all product types where a negative result is expected. We still utilise the AM/M:12-1 & AM/M:12-2 for samples where we expect to find Salmonella.

AM/M:12-3 has the additional benefit of reducing the standard testing time by 24hrs, for negative results.

8th July 2011 - Defra Approval Extension

Defra have extended the approval for ATL until 31st August 2011. Defra are updating their processes for UKAS accredited laboratories following the new Animal By-Product Regulations (ABPR)  that came into force on 21st March 2011. Alliance Technical Laboratories expect to hear more from DEFRA  regarding Salmonella testing closer to the end of August. In the meantime the approval extension letter can be downloaded from our accreditation page.
